Relay
by 2nd Chair AI
Key Features and Functions include:
Shared Client–Attorney AI Workspace
Relay provides a shared digital environment where clients and attorneys can interact with AI-supported tools within a single workspace. Clients can ask legal questions, explore issues, and generate preliminary materials, while attorneys retain visibility into usage and outputs.
Client Self-Service With Attorney Oversight
The platform allows clients to independently seek legal information, review contracts, and request draft work products. Attorneys can review, confirm, or correct AI-generated outputs and communicate directly with clients within the same interface.
AI-Supported Legal Research and Drafting
Relay supports legal research-style queries and document creation using a combination of underlying legal sources and firm-provided materials. Outputs are designed to be reviewed and validated by attorneys before reliance or delivery.
Verification and Source Traceability
The system is built to support attorney review by linking AI outputs back to underlying source materials, including uploaded firm documents or referenced legal authorities. This design is intended to make validation and audit of AI-generated content more efficient.
White-Label Configuration for Law Firms
Law firms can customize branding elements such as the tool name, interface colors, disclaimers, and logos. The product is positioned as a firm-facing client tool, with 2nd Chair operating in a background support role.
Firm-Specific Knowledge Context
Relay allows firms to provide prior work product, commonly used authorities, and client-specific materials as contextual inputs. This enables each firm’s instance of the tool to reflect its own knowledge base and practice approach.
Privacy and Attorney–Client Privilege Controls
The platform is designed not to train on client inputs, AI outputs, or uploaded files. Communications within Relay are structured to support attorney–client privilege, addressing privacy and confidentiality considerations specific to legal practice.
Client Engagement and Review Requests
Clients can request attorney review directly from within the tool, enabling follow-up conversations, legal review, or new matters to originate from AI-assisted interactions.
