RedactProof

RedactProof is a browser-based document redaction tool that processes PDFs, scanned documents, and image files entirely on the user's device by default, without requiring file uploads to external servers. It is designed for legal and compliance professionals who require secure, auditable redaction workflows.

Client-Side Processing By default, all document processing — including rendering, text extraction, and PII detection — runs locally in the browser using WebAssembly and on-device AI models. Document content is not transmitted over the network, eliminating data residency risk at the architecture level.

AI-Assisted PII Detection The platform detects over 60 types of personally identifiable information, including names, phone numbers, IBANs, and national insurance numbers. Detection suggestions are presented for user review and approval; the tool does not apply redactions automatically. A Precision Engine option, available on Pro and Team plans, routes extracted text (not files) through Cloudflare Workers AI for enhanced detection.

Permanent Pixel-Burn Redaction Redactions are applied using pixel-burn technology, which renders each page to a raster image and permanently destroys the underlying content. There are no recoverable annotation layers or hidden text beneath redacted areas.

Reveal Mode An alternative redaction workflow that defaults to redacting all content, then allows users to selectively reveal only the material appropriate for disclosure. This approach is designed to reduce the risk of inadvertent disclosure.

Tamper-Evident Verification Certificates Exports include Ed25519-signed verification certificates and SHA-256 file hashes. Recipients can independently verify that a redacted document has not been altered since export by scanning a QR code or uploading the accompanying verification file, without requiring an account.

Legal Disclosure Export Tools Pro and Team plans include Bates numbering, system and custom exemption codes, CSV redaction logs, and full audit trail exports to support e-disclosure, FOI, and SAR workflows.

Deployment and Access RedactProof runs in the browser with no installation required. Paid plans include bulk processing of up to 20 documents and team administration features including shared exemption codes, policy controls, and document iteration tracking.
