LexWorkplace
by Uptime Legal
LexWorkplace is a cloud-based document and email management system built for law firms, offered by Uptime Legal. It organizes documents, emails, and notes by client and matter within a single, centralized platform rather than treating file storage as a generic repository.
Key features and functions include:
Matter-Centric Organization Documents, emails, and notes are stored and managed by client or matter, providing a structured case record that is accessible to the entire firm unless access is restricted by permissions.
Full-Text Search and OCR The platform supports full-text search across documents and emails. Integrated OCR automatically converts scanned PDF files into searchable text, enabling retrieval across both native and scanned content.
Document Management Tools Features include version management, document check-in/check-out, tagging and profiling, unique document IDs, and one-click open and save functionality. Document comparison is also available through a Litera Compare integration.
Email Management and Outlook Integration Emails can be saved to matters directly from Outlook using the LexWorkplace Outlook add-in. Smart File learns sender-to-matter associations to automate filing, and Multi-Select allows users to file multiple emails simultaneously.
Microsoft 365 Integration LexWorkplace integrates with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, allowing documents to be opened, edited, and saved directly from Office applications without re-uploading.
Sharing and Collaboration Matter documents are available firm-wide by default, with permission controls to restrict access as needed. Secure external sharing allows documents to be sent to clients or third parties outside the firm.
Cross-Platform Compatibility The platform supports both Windows and Mac operating systems natively, without requiring virtualization or remote desktop tools for Mac users.
Data Security LexWorkplace operates in SOC-compliant data centers with encryption in transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication, geographically redundant backups, audit trails, and configurable access controls.
Document AI (Optional) An optional AI module enables users to ask natural-language questions about document content, generate summaries, and save AI-generated insights back to the matter.
