Overview

Lawgbook is a communications-based automated time tracking platform for law firms, designed to reduce billable time leakage by capturing client interactions across email, calls, video, and messaging channels and converting them into draft time entries matched to matters in a connected practice management system.

Key features and functions include:

Automated Communication Capture Lawgbook connects via API to email accounts (Gmail and Outlook), video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet), phone systems (including RingCentral and VXT), and messaging applications (including WhatsApp) to capture billable client interactions without the use of desktop monitoring, screenshots, or manual timers.

AI-Powered Matter Matching Using participant data and communication content, the platform applies AI to identify and suggest the correct client and matter for each captured interaction, drawing from data already stored in the firm's connected practice management software.

Automated Time Entry Generation Draft time entries are created automatically for each captured interaction, incorporating duration, billing narrative, and the firm's configured billing increments and rates. Attorneys review and approve entries before they are pushed to the practice management system.

Practice Management System Integration Lawgbook integrates with practice management platforms including Clio, MyCase, and 8am, syncing approved time entries directly to the corresponding matter without requiring re-entry or changes to existing billing workflows.

Configurable Billing Rules The platform supports firm-level and matter-level billing rules, allowing firms to designate time entries as billable or non-billable. This includes support for shadow billing on contingency matters, enabling firms to track effective hourly rates and matter economics without generating client invoices.

Privacy-First Architecture Communication content is processed via API and removed from Lawgbook's systems after 30 days. Each law firm operates in a single-tenant, isolated environment. The platform does not train on firm data, and all data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Configurable Data Residency Firms can select the geographic region where their data is stored and processed, with support for Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA and UK data transfers.
