Overview

Lawgbook captures billable time from client communications and converts them into draft time entries. It runs in the background, connecting via API to the email, calling, video, and messaging platforms used by attorneys.

As communications happen (for example, a client email, a Zoom call, a WhatsApp exchange), Lawgbook pulls the activity, matches it to the relevant matter, and generates a draft time entry with a billing narrative. Attorneys can review and approve a daily list of drafts before entries sync to their practice management system.

Communication Capture
Lawgbook connects to Gmail, Outlook, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, RingCentral, Quo, and WhatsApp. Every client communication across these channels is captured automatically. The system does not monitor desktop activity or take screenshots; it works exclusively through the APIs of connected platforms.

Matter Matching
For each captured activity, Lawgbook cross-references participants and communication content against the firm's existing contact and matter data. High-confidence matches are assigned automatically. Activities that could relate to multiple matters are flagged for the attorney to resolve.

AI-Generated Narratives
Each draft entry includes a billing narrative generated from the content of the communication. Attorneys can edit descriptions, adjust time, or reassign matters before approving. Bulk approval is available for entries with clear matches.

Billing Rules
Firms can configure billing increments, minimum billable times, and non-billable rules to match engagement letter requirements.

Shadow Billing
For contingency or flat-fee matters, Lawgbook captures time as non-billable or internal. Entries sync to the practice management system without appearing on a client invoice, giving firms data to calculate effective hourly rate and matter economics.

PMS Integration
Lawgbook integrates with Clio and myCase. Approved entries sync directly to the correct matter without re-entry. Additional integrations are available on the Enterprise plan.

Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each firm's environment is isolated. AI processing does not use firm data for model training. Communication content is deleted from Lawgbook servers after 30 days. Enterprise customers can configure data residency and deploy on single-tenant infrastructure.
