Commander for Advocates
by VA Claim Commander
Commander for Advocates is a practice tool focused on VA disability compensation, supporting representatives from initial record review through decision review and appeals to the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
Key features and functions include:
Claims File Processing
Accepts VA claims file exports of any size, including scanned pages, and returns each document typed, dated, and arranged in VA order. Conditions identified in the records are added to the client’s case.
Condition-Based Evidence Review
Groups conditions as the VA rating schedule groups them, showing the diagnostic code, review lane, and appeal clock for each. Provides an evidence quality assessment per condition and flags conditions documented in the records that have not been claimed.
Record Search with Page Citations
Answers questions about the client record, with each fact cited to the document and page it came from. Answers can be added to a statement in support of claim or to firm letterhead.
Decision Letter Analysis
Reads VA rating decisions contention by contention, identifying the reason given for each denial, any favorable findings, and the evidentiary gap VA named. Indicates whether a supplemental claim, higher-level review, or Board appeal addresses each issue.
VA Form Preparation
Prefills VA’s own PDF forms from the client record, including representation, records authorization, statement in support of claim, and decision review forms. Denied issues identified in the decision analysis carry into the review forms.
Document Drafting
Drafts rebuttals based on the language of the VA decision, along with statements and nexus letter drafts for clinician review. Drafts are prepared for the representative’s review, editing, and signature, and can be assembled into a single submission packet.
Fee Agreement Preparation
Drafts fee agreements containing the elements required under VA regulations and tracks the filing deadline for each agreement.
Deadline Tracking
Tracks appeal windows, court deadlines, examination dates, and intent-to-file periods for every client, ordered by urgency. Examination notices added to the file appear on the deadline list automatically, and court deadline calculations account for weekends and holidays.
Court and Prior Decision Review
Screens Board decisions against the record for potential error and extracts record citations from the Record Before the Agency. Screens prior decisions for clear and unmistakable error.
Client and Team Management
Provides a multi-client dashboard with persistent client records, staff access, and organization branding on documents. Intake, signature, and buddy statement links collect information from clients and witnesses.
