Carolyn Anger is a Senior Director at Consilio, based in Toronto, Canada. Consilio is a global leader in eDiscovery, document review and legal consulting services with professionals and data centres across North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. At Consilio, Carolyn specializes in eDiscovery strategy and management, offering technical and practical guidance to clients on the most efficient, accurate, and cost-effective methods for responding to different types of discovery requests and conducting investigations involving digital evidence.

Over the past twenty years, Carolyn has built a name for herself as an expert in all phases of eDiscovery by successfully managing and leading some of Canada's most significant and complex matters. She has extensive experience managing the discovery elements of complex commercial litigation and investigations and has particular expertise in the field of supplemental information requests and Section 11 Orders received from the Competition Bureau.

Carolyn's career began in information technology as a systems integrator before she was introduced to the world of litigation support. Her expertise continued to develop because of her engagement on a large high-stakes document-intensive criminal matter that went to a nine-month preliminary trial. Following that experience, Carolyn spent ten years at Stikeman Elliott, Toronto, where she developed and managed litigation support technology, eDiscovery, and trial support needs across the firm. Before joining Consilio, Carolyn ran an independent legal technology and eDiscovery consulting firm that focussed on providing legal services that cut through the noise to deliver efficient, effective, and predictable solutions.

Carolyn prides herself on providing practical, creative solutions through in-depth knowledge, project management principles, innovation, and previous hands-on experience to achieve the best outcomes for her clients. She provides guidance and support on evidence management and case management issues, overcoming challenges by leveraging technology and best practices to manage the risks associated with electronic information. Carolyn is continuously learning new technologies and holds multiple industry-related certifications.

A leader in the community, Carolyn is a mentor to professionals new to the legal technology industry and is dedicated to building the community and industry in Canada by improving upon resources, access to products and services, and by creating space for others to shine.

Carolyn is a founding member and president of the Toronto chapter of the Association of Certified eDiscovery Specialists (ACEDS) and contributed to the development of the Association’s industry leading certification program for the Canadian market. She is a founding member and has served as a director on the not-for-profit board of the Toronto chapter of Women in eDiscovery. She is also a member of the Sedona Canada Working Group 7 and was part of the drafting team for The Sedona Canada Principles Addressing Electronic Discovery, Third Edition.

Carolyn is passionate about innovation in the courts and access to the legal system for everyone. In 2020 she became a member of the Ontario e-Hearings Taskforce, which serves as a consultative forum and liaison between the Ontario bench and bar regarding practice directions and other regulatory changes required to implement efficient electronic, remote, and hybrid hearings driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2021, the Taskforce published the second version of its "Best Practices for Remote Hearings," a comprehensive guide for anyone who is preparing or attending a remote hearing.
