Users can ask legal questions in everyday language to research legislation, case law and available administrative guidance. Research draws on the legal databases enabled for the account, with coverage depending on the jurisdiction and any specialist modules selected. Users can explore a topic or retrieve specific legal materials by reference.

Source references and verification
Research responses include citations and links to the underlying legal materials, allowing professionals to inspect the sources and assess their relevance to the matter. Users can select which available databases inform a conversation and request further analysis of individual authorities.

Document analysis and comparison
Users can upload contracts, pleadings, judgments and other case materials for analysis. Supported tasks include summarising documents, extracting arguments, comparing contractual provisions and identifying issues for further review. Uploaded materials can also provide the factual context for subsequent research and drafting.

AI-assisted drafting and revision
Simpliciter generates first drafts of pleadings, contracts, legal opinions and professional correspondence using user instructions, case materials and relevant legal sources. Documents open in a drafting panel alongside the conversation. Users can request targeted changes through chat or select a passage for revision, consult earlier versions and export drafts to Word or PDF.

Standard and custom templates
The platform includes a library of document templates and allows users to upload their own. These templates provide a starting structure for recurring work, while instructions and supporting documents supply the details of the individual matter.

Private knowledge bases
Users can create searchable collections of internal documents, such as previous opinions, contracts, precedents and practice materials. These collections can be consulted across conversations alongside public legal databases. Private knowledge bases are distinct from documents attached to an individual chat and involve additional processing charges.

Projects and team collaboration
Projects group conversations by client, matter or topic. Project instructions and default source selections can carry over to new conversations, while each chat retains its own context. Business plans support team collaboration, centralised administration and shared usage allowances. Administrators can enable private workspaces to separate individual members’ conversations, documents and projects.

Specialist research modules
Optional modules extend the Italian legal research offering with additional sources for tax, employment, privacy, insurance, regional legislation and Court of Auditors case law. Access depends on the modules enabled for the user.

MCP connectivity
Simpliciter provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector for accessing its legal research tools from compatible AI applications. The connector uses OAuth authentication and provides read-only access to enabled legal sources. It does not expose users’ Simpliciter conversations, uploaded documents or private knowledge bases.
