Overview

Sentinel Citation is a citation-verification solution for federal court filings, developed by Fusion Collective. It checks each citation in a filing against authoritative legal sources and evaluates it using multiple independent AI models before the filing is submitted.

Key Features & Functions:

Multi-Model Citation Extraction
Citations within a filing are identified independently by three language models, combined with output from the Eyecite citation-parsing tool.

Source Verification
Extracted citations are checked against authoritative legal databases, including CourtListener (covering more than nine million opinions across more than 2,000 courts), Cornell Legal Information Institute, and the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations, with Google Scholar used as a fallback for opinions that are otherwise paywalled.

Multi-Model Judgment
Three independent AI models from different vendors evaluate each citation across four checks: existence, quote accuracy, holding support, and citation strength. The underlying methodology is patent-pending (US 64/056,937).

Meta-Judge Synthesis
A fourth model reconciles the outputs of the judging models into a single, auditable verdict per citation, along with supporting reasoning.

Citation Accuracy Checks
Beyond confirming that a cited case exists, the tool evaluates whether quotations match the source opinion and whether a cited holding is applied within the scope the original case supports, flagging citations used in ways the underlying authority does not support.

Opposing Counsel Review
The same analysis can be run on a brief filed by opposing counsel, producing a per-citation assessment of how authority is characterized in that filing.

Sample Reports
Publicly available sample reports cover five real, previously sanctioned filings, including Mata v. Avianca.

Data Handling
Filings are encrypted in transit and at rest, processed without staff access, and not used to train the underlying models. Users can delete filings and associated analyses at any time.

Pricing
Filings are analyzed at $99 each, with an option to fund a prepaid balance instead of paying per filing. The first filing is free and does not require payment information.
