RecordBeacon is a document review and redaction platform designed for legal teams and public agencies handling high-volume, deadline-driven records work such as public-records responses, discovery productions, and medical-record disclosures.

Key features and functions include:

Multi-layer content detection
Pattern recognizers, an in-house detection model, and a large language model layer scan a full document set to identify personal identifiers, account and policy numbers, medical detail, minors' information, and privileged content. Each flagged item is recorded with the category or exemption it relates to.

OCR with handwriting escalation
Scanned and photographed pages are processed through OCR. Pages that resist standard text recognition, including handwritten forms, escalate to a vision model, and reviewers can draw redaction boxes manually on pages the automated detection does not reach.

Reviewer-controlled redaction
No content is redacted automatically. Every flagged item is held for a named reviewer to approve or reject, and the release step is blocked from running while any mark remains undecided.

Release verification and audit logging
Released documents are rebuilt with redactions burned into the page rather than overlaid, and outputs are checked by re-reading the released file to confirm the covered content is unrecoverable. Every upload, decision, and release is attributed to a signed-in reviewer and recorded in an audit log, and releases include a numbering log and custody manifest.

Deduplication and document grouping
Duplicate pages are identified across a production so the same content is not reviewed twice, and related documents are grouped so reviewers can work by topic rather than by an unordered file queue.

Bates numbering and exhibit labeling
The platform applies Bates numbering and exhibit labels as part of the release process. A related free tool, a browser-based Bates stamper that processes files locally without uploading them, is also available on the vendor's site.

Video and audio evidence handling
Video and audio evidence can be added to a document set with checksums, in-place playback, and chain-of-custody tracking. The vendor does not claim automated redaction capability for video or audio content.

Email ingestion
Email is ingested with attachments separated out as individual records within the broader document set.

Deployment options
RecordBeacon is available as a hosted, multi-tenant service running in a single United States region, or as a dedicated single-tenant deployment for organizations requiring the instance to run in their own cloud account under their own security review.
