PII Anomalyzer
PII Anomalyzer is a desktop application that detects and redacts personally identifiable information in documents without transmitting data to any cloud service.
Key features and functions include:
Local AI-based detection
The application runs two AI/NLP models on the user's device to identify PII, combining their outputs to reduce false positives and catch entity types that pattern-matching alone may miss, including names, contact details, government and financial identifiers, medical information, dates, and locations.
Multi-format document support
The tool processes native and scanned PDFs, DOCX, and XLSX files, with built-in OCR for scanned documents and images, and supports batch processing of multiple documents at once.
De-identification methods
Users can choose among four methods for handling detected PII: redact, which permanently removes the content; replace, which substitutes numbered identifiers; highlight; and mask. A manual draw-to-redact toolbar is also available for visual elements such as signatures, logos, and handwriting that automated detection does not capture.
Re-identification workflow
De-identified documents can be shared with third-party AI tools, contractors, or external reviewers; a re-identification mode subsequently restores the original entity values in returned content.
Offline, on-device processing
All AI models are bundled with the installer and run locally. According to the vendor, the only outbound network activity is periodic license validation, which does not transmit document content; no telemetry is collected.
