Overview

OpenText eDiscovery is a comprehensive, end-to-end platform for managing the e-discovery lifecycle and conducting internal investigations. Designed to address the growing volume, complexity, and risk of electronically stored information (ESI), the platform enables legal teams to handle all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)—from data identification and legal hold through collection, processing, analysis, review, and production—within a single, integrated environment.

The platform incorporates advanced technologies, including proprietary artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI, to automate and accelerate key discovery tasks. Through features like OpenText Legal Tech Aviator, users can apply AI to automatically identify responsive documents, summarize content, and surface critical insights earlier in the review process. Aviator Review allows teams to test and refine review parameters, automate responsiveness determinations using large language models (LLMs), and manage associated AI costs with upfront visibility.

For early case assessment and data exploration, OpenText eDiscovery provides embedded analytics and front-end investigative tools that allow users to intelligently organize and narrow large datasets. Technology-assisted review (TAR) capabilities are available in both continuous machine learning and continuous active learning modes. These are enhanced by contextual diversity algorithms, which help ensure that documents from different conceptual groupings are surfaced during review to avoid overlooking key information. Additional AI-driven tools include predictive search, phrase and concept analysis, and automated categorization to streamline document prioritization.

The platform also supports risk management through several integrated features. Automated sensitive data detection can identify both standard and custom data patterns, such as PII and PHI, with pre-configured filters for ease of use. Entity extraction tools assist in locating personal names, even when unrelated to specific requests, and redaction capabilities—both bulk and inverse—allow teams to redact efficiently and consistently across large datasets. Built-in quality assurance checks and detailed reporting (including overturn tracking) help maintain coding consistency, defensibility, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
