Note
Microsoft Project continues to exist, but Microsoft has been consolidating its cloud-based project management experience into the new Microsoft Planner. The new Planner brings together the task simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the team collaboration features of Planner, and the advanced scheduling and project management capabilities formerly associated with Project for the web, with Copilot features available in supported plans. Microsoft began rolling out the new Planner in Microsoft Teams in 2024, followed by broader web availability. In August 2025, Microsoft retired Project for the web and the Project and Roadmap apps in Teams, redirecting users to Planner for the web and Planner in Teams. Separately, Project Online is scheduled for retirement on September 30, 2026, while Project desktop remains available and is not affected.
