Luna Crescent — Proprietary Legal Intelligence Model
In June 2026, Luminance announced Luna Crescent, its proprietary legal intelligence model, developed and trained on a curated dataset spanning approximately 3.4 million legal concepts and data points sourced from Luminance's corpus of verified legal documents. Luna is integrated into the Luminance platform and operates alongside the platform's broader multi-model architecture. It is designed for accurate extraction of contractual concepts and identification of what is absent from a document, not only what is present. Luna is deployed within Luminance's own AWS environment. On Luminance's proprietary ContractIQ Bench benchmark (189,000 manually annotated data points), Luna achieved higher accuracy on contract understanding tasks compared to general-purpose models assessed in the same evaluation.

Multi-Model Architecture
Luminance employs what it describes as a "Panel of Judges" approach, using a mixture of AI models — including proprietary, fine-tuned open-source, embedding, reasoning, and commercial models — that work in combination to process legal tasks. An orchestration layer validates outputs across models before delivery to the user.

Security and Deployment
The platform is certified to ISO 27001:2022 and has completed a SOC 2 Type 2 examination. Data is hosted on AWS in single-tenant, customer-dedicated instances with full encryption at rest and in transit. On-premises deployment is available for customers with specific data residency requirements. Luminance's Security Advisory Board includes former Director General of MI5 Lord Jonathan Evans and senior figures from the cybersecurity sector.
