LHT DMS
by Legal Hi Tech
LHT DMS is a desktop application for litigation lawyers, built to bring the court file onto the lawyer’s own computer and to produce court-ready documents from it.
Key features and functions include:
Portal Document Retrieval
Signs in to the England & Wales CE-File portal and the Malaysian EFS and EKSS portals using the lawyer’s own credentials, and downloads every document filed in a case, by either side, into a case-specific folder. Files are renamed with the enclosure or sequence number and date on arrival, and later runs retrieve only newly filed documents.
Court Bundle Compilation
Compiles PDF, Word, RTF and image files into a bookmarked, paginated bundle, applying jurisdiction-specific formatting automatically. For Peninsular Malaysia this includes portrait rotation, A4 rendering, annotation flattening, hyperlink removal, and a 50 MB file-size ceiling with volume splitting. For England & Wales it follows the Judiciary’s General Guidance on Electronic Court Bundles, including page-matched pagination, a hyperlinked index, and OCR on scanned text. Jurisdiction settings are applied by default based on the licence but remain user-editable.
Court Index Generation and Cross-Referencing
Builds a Word-based court index from a numbered case folder, in three-, four-, or five-column formats, and updates it as the folder changes while preserving manual edits to styling or descriptions. Document numbering adjusts automatically as items are added, merged, or removed, and final bundle page references are written back into skeleton arguments, written submissions, and witness statements.
Post-Compilation Bundle Editing
Replaces unsigned pages with signed versions without rebuilding the bundle. Splits, extracts, and removes pages while preserving bookmarks; adjusts page labels across volumes; inserts blank pages for double-sided printing; and provides a thumbnail grid for reordering and rotating pages, alongside a full-page viewer.
Document Processing and OCR
Applies OCR that excludes top and bottom margins to avoid court stamps and filing endorsements, supports additional languages alongside English, compresses files to 150 DPI, and converts Word and image files to PDF while carrying Word headings across as bookmarks.
Local Processing and Data Privacy
All processing occurs on the user’s own computer. No documents are transmitted to any server, there is no cloud copy of the case file, and portal credentials remain local to the user’s machine.
