Lex Cloak

Lex Cloak is a desktop application for Windows and Mac that finds and redacts sensitive information in PDF documents. All scanning and redaction run locally on the user's machine, without uploading documents to the cloud.

Key features and functions include:

Local Processing
Runs scanning and redaction entirely on the user's device, and documents stay in the user's own folders. No user account is required, and no analytics or session recording is collected.

Sensitive Data Detection
Reads PDF text layers directly and applies OCR to scanned pages. Detects names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, medical record numbers, dates, and financial information. Each detection category can be switched on or off.

Detection Profiles
Adjusts detection for the document type. Profiles cover legal and court, healthcare/legal (forensic), medical records, public records and FOIA, school records, and general documents.

Hidden Content Detection
Finds content a page does not show, such as white text or words beneath a drawn black box, and removes it from the saved file. Also flags signatures, handwriting, barcodes, and QR codes.

Custom Redactions and Redaction Lists
Supports manual redactions and custom terms. Always Redact and Never Redact lists apply automatically across every document.

Review and Triage
Shows detections as red outlines for review, with triage tools for large documents and page-level tools. Headers, footers, and page numbers can be handled separately.

True Redaction and Download
Removes redacted text from the saved file rather than drawing a box over it. The result is previewed against a checklist before download, and working sessions can be saved and resumed later.

Export Text for AI Tools
Converts an open document into anonymized text that can be pasted into AI tools.
