Overview

Jónsbók is a legal research and drafting tool that indexes jurisdiction-specific legal sources — including legislation, amendments, court decisions, and administrative rulings — into a connected knowledge graph, enabling legal professionals to conduct research, analyze documents, and produce drafts grounded in local law.

Key features and functions include:

AI-Assisted Legal Research (Chat)
Users submit legal questions in plain language and receive answers drawn from the legal corpus of their jurisdiction. Each response includes direct citations to the originating laws, rulings, or regulations, allowing users to verify sources. The platform supports multi-jurisdiction queries across Iceland, Hungary, Croatia, Finland, Norway, and Poland in a single workflow.

Document Drafting (Skills)
The platform allows teams to create reusable drafting templates — referred to as Skills — by uploading sample documents and drafting instructions. Jónsbók generates first drafts of contracts, memos, briefs, and letters that follow the firm's preferred structure, terminology, and level of detail. Skills can be shared across a team for consistent output.

Document Review (Review Grid)
The Review Grid feature enables high-volume document review by displaying uploaded files in a spreadsheet-like interface. Users define standard or custom extraction columns, and the platform analyzes each document against the same criteria. Each result links back to the underlying source text for verification.

Document-Aware Chat
Users can upload their own documents — including PDFs, Word files, PowerPoint files, emails, and images — to build private knowledge bases organized by matter, client, or practice area. These internal materials can be referenced alongside jurisdiction-specific legal sources in the chat interface.

Microsoft Word and Outlook Integration
A Word add-in brings Jónsbók's research and drafting functionality into the Microsoft Word environment, allowing users to query legal questions, check citations, and insert cited answers directly into documents without switching applications. The platform is also available within Microsoft Outlook.

Jurisdiction-Specific Legal Knowledge Graph
Jónsbók maps laws, amendments, regulations, judgments, and rulings into a legal knowledge graph that traces authority back to original source texts and surfaces connections across source types. The platform's approach is designed around local legal practice and jurisdiction-specific nuances rather than general large-language-model outputs.
