Overview

Dr. Redact is an AI-assisted document redaction platform designed for law firms, alternative legal service providers, and other regulated businesses that need to remove sensitive information from documents before sharing, filing, or producing them.

Key features and functions include:

AI-Assisted Sensitive Data Detection
The platform detects more than 65 categories of sensitive information, including Social Security numbers (typed, masked, and handwritten), financial account and routing numbers, dates of birth, minors' names, addresses, medical record numbers, and handwritten signatures.

Support for Multiple Document Formats
Digital PDFs, scanned documents, faxes, and phone-camera captures of paper are all supported. Image-based pages are processed with optical character recognition (OCR) automatically, and paper documents can be photographed directly from the upload screen.

Human Review Workflow
Every AI-proposed redaction is presented for review before it is applied. Reviewers can approve, reject, or supplement detected items, and can draw additional redaction boxes manually.

Permanent, Pixel-Level Redaction
Approved redactions are burned into the page at the pixel level rather than covered with an overlay, permanently removing the underlying content. The unredacted original document is destroyed once processing is complete, and redacted output files remain text-searchable.

Audit Certificates
Processed jobs can produce an audit certificate recording what was redacted and when, supporting use in litigation productions, FOIA responses, and other compliance-driven workflows.

Regulatory Alignment
Detection categories are designed to align with the identifier requirements of Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 5.2 for federal court filings.
