Discovery Assistant

by ImageMAKER

Overview

Key Features and Functions include:

Bulk Data Ingestion & Conversion
Supports import of a wide range of electronic file types (e-mail PST/MSG, NSF, EML; Office documents; PDFs; HTML; ZIP; scanned images; and more), enabling large-scale ingestion of native files, databases, backups or storage media.  Offers conversion of these files into TIFF or PDF formats (or native export), extracting both metadata and text, with full-text indexing for downstream review or production.

Search, Filtering & Metadata Extraction
Provides keyword search (through large datasets, even terabytes), metadata search, filtering, de-duplication (e.g., via MD5 hash deduplication), and the ability to identify email threads, near-duplicates, and parent–child relationships — tools that are essential for efficient e-discovery culling and review.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) & Distributed Processing
Supports OCR for scanned documents and images, enabling search and text extraction from image-based documents.
Distributed processing capability — the software can leverage multiple machines to process large volumes of data in parallel, facilitating scalability for large-scale matters.

Audit Trail, Document Tracking, and Export to Review Platforms
Maintains full audit trail and document tracking, preserving parent-child relationships between files (e.g., emails and attachments), which supports defensible discovery workflows. Exports processed documents (and associated metadata/text) into load files or native formats compatible with major case-management and review tools (e.g., Relativity, Concordance, Summation, Ringtail, among others).

Flexible Workflow & Production Tools (Stamping, QC, Reporting)
Includes features for batch stamping or watermarking pages, quality-control review of converted documents (comparing image to extracted text/metadata), and reporting tools to track document processing and production status. Offers customizable workflows, where users can filter and cull data sets (e.g., by keyword or metadata) before conversion or export — helping to manage volume and cost effectively.
