by Blue J

Overview

Ask Blue J is a generative AI–driven tax research platform developed by Blue J. It enables tax professionals to pose natural-language tax law questions and receive answers that include linked primary sources, commentary, and related legal content. The tool supports efficient and verifiable tax research workflows in U.S. federal tax law (and evolving jurisdictional coverage).

Key Features & Functions include:

Natural-language query interface
Users may ask tax questions in conversational language. The AI engine interprets the intent and returns structured responses with citations to relevant statutes, regulations, or rulings.

Cited sources & verifiability
Each answer is accompanied by links to underlying primary materials (e.g. tax code sections, IRS rulings) and a summary of related content, enabling users to validate or further explore the reasoning.

Case law integration
As of version 14, Ask Blue J includes curated federal tax case law, enabling precedent-based reasoning within responses.

Performance optimizations
The v14 release claims substantially improved response speed (roughly “2× faster”) over prior versions, enhancing usability for real-time research work.

Jurisdiction expansion & future roadmap
While initially focused on U.S. federal tax, Blue J plans to broaden jurisdictional coverage and deepen drafting, review, and API integration capabilities to leverage firm data.
