Last summer, my adopted hometown of Atlanta joined the growing list of cities where you can summon an autonomous vehicle instead of a rideshare with a human driver. Like many people, I was equal parts fascinated and skeptical, so I waited nearly eight months before trying one. After several rides in a Waymo, however, I found myself paying far less attention to whether the car could drive and much more attention to how it was making decisions. That shift in perspective led me to an unexpected realization about the future of legal AI.
