Overview

Stella Legal is a legal services firm that combines attorney-led legal judgment with AI-driven workflow tools across eDiscovery, contracting, legal operations, M&A, and data management. Atlas is the firm's agentic first-pass review tool, used within its Discovery & Dispute Resolution practice.

Key features and functions include:

Hold and preservation
Atlas drafts and issues litigation hold notices, tracks custodian acknowledgements, and escalates exceptions for attorney attention.

Collection and processing
The tool connects to cloud data sources through APIs, applies hash verification, and generates a chain-of-custody log.

Early case assessment
Atlas proposes and tests search terms against the document population and produces hit reports to inform scope and negotiation.

First-pass document review
The tool reviews the full document population and codes each document for relevance, issue tags, and privilege candidacy, recording a written rationale for each coding decision.

Routing to attorneys
Documents flagged as hot, close privilege calls, or low-confidence codings are routed to attorneys for review; remaining documents are set aside for sampling-based quality control.

Attorney oversight checkpoints
Attorneys approve review scope, conduct meet-and-confer negotiations, validate sampled outputs, and certify productions under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 26(g).

Defensibility documentation
Each production is accompanied by a record including agent activity logs, chain-of-custody documentation, recall statistics, and per-document coding rationale.
